Meet Jessica Cortez M.A., CCC-SLP, CBIS
Speech Language Pathologist, Certified Brain Injury Specialist
My Story
My name is Jessica and I am speech therapist and certified brain injury specialist who is passionate about making therapy functional for the adult population. I have 15 years of experience working with adults in different therapy environments including rehabilitation hospitals, sub acute, out patient, home health and long term care. My therapeutic style blends the fields of speech pathology with health and positive psychology. Most reasons one sees a speech therapist entail a chronic illness, stroke or a potentially devastating injury. These major events effect more than just your brain functioning. It touches every aspect of your life. I believe that therapy should focus on the whole person and guide the individual towards increasing one's health span and longevity.
I am certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) as well as the Brain Injury Association of America. I earned a Bachelor's of Arts in the field of Psychology from The University of Mount Union and a Masters of Speech Language Pathology from The George Washington University. My family and I live in the Fort Collins, Colorado area and love all things outdoors. I look forward to meeting you and would be honored to be a part of your recovery journey!
My Why
This is my dad, Rick and me. My father died at the age of 42 as the result of a brain aneurysm. In honor of my father, I devote my life's work to help prevent brain injuries and enhance the lives of those living with their effects.
